GENESI-DR is a 2 years project and identifies a set of Work Packages divided into four Networking Activities (NAs), two Services Activities (SAs) and two Joint Research Activities (JRAs).

NA1 : Project Management

• Effective and efficient Overall Project management and coordination
• Effective and efficient Administrative management
• Effective and efficient Technical management
• Quality assurance and Risk management

NA2 : Dissemination, training and standardisation

• Spreading of good practices, internal and external communication, best practice demonstration via active website activities
• Awareness rising, also through training (internal and external) on repositories and data exploitation, proactive presence in education related to earth science and technologies
• Contribution to existing or new standards

NA3: GENESI-DR Experience by Applications

• Requirements gathering: ascertain current state of the art in terms of user requirements for pre-selected applications:
  
  • Validation Application "Near real time orthorectification for agricultural crop check"
  • Validation Application "Urban area mapping in support of emergency response"
  • Validation Application "GlobModel"
  • Validation Application "SeaDataNet"

          and for additional applications.

NA4: GENESI-DR Data and Resources Access Policies

• Relation with European and National Policy Bodies
• Development of Data Archiving and Dissemination Policy
• Development of a sustainable European Archiving Infrastructure concept

SA1: GENESI-DR Deployment and Operation

• Set-up and deployment of GENESI-DR at operational platform
• Upgrade set of services GENESI-DR at predefined moments in time
• Management of GENESI-DR including first level maintenance and second level maintenance reporting
• Provision of a stable service to the user communities

SA2: GENESI-DR Service Evolution, Integration and Support
Design, implementation and testing of GENESI-DR System on Development Platform

• GENESI-DR Service Evolution
• Integration and validation of Services and JRA products on GENESI-DR
• Ensure GENESI-DR System problems are solved
• Current services to be enhanced according to current technologies , including
  
  • Enhancement of Data Access features in line with the current technology
  • Enhancement of Data Curation features in line with the current technology
  • Enhancement and standardization of Data Processing features
  • Enhancement of the security infrastructure

JRA1: Digital Repositories Fast Access

• The identification and the solution of the issue that today prevent a real time availability of scientific data make available by the different research organization. The activity will exploit current infrastructure and technology to define how the local infrastructure might be evolved in order to become part of a GENESI-DR service and data provider.
• The adopted approach supersedes the current User Services infrastructure for data access.

JRA2: Data Curation

• Analyze existing Data Curation standards and solutions
• Research on innovative models and metadata for Data Curation and interoperability
• Refine analysis of Data Curation concepts in the frame of the GENESI-DR project and define the GENESI-DR Data Curation strategy
• Evaluate the GENESI-DR Data Curation strategy against different norms and standard
• Provide results (GENESI-DR data curation metadata model, GENESI-DR data curation strategy) to standardization bodies
